“Dark Skies Festival Astrophotography workshop” at Sutton Bank

Friday 16th February 2018 from 19:00pm to 22:00pm

Sutton Bank Visitor Centre

Sutton Bank, Near Thirsk, YO7 2EH

Come to our Sutton Bank National Park centre and learn how to photograph the contrast of our dark skies and the beautiful stars above. I will also teach you how to create beautiful star trails and other compositions that will leave you and your friends breathless, all with just a DSLR camera, lens and tripod. I will also introduce the techniques of processing astrophotographs to enhance the faint detail.

By using tracking mounts with camera lenses and small telescopes, you will realise that you can take pictures you never thought possible!
After some time spent in the workshop, there will be opportunities (weather permitting) to try the astrophotography techniques out under our dark skies.
Suitable for adults and accompanied children 16 years and over.

Did you know; from towns and cities we see just a handful of stars, but in the North York Moors we could count 2,000 at any one time!
Please book early - places are limited.

This event is being held alongside a stargazing session organised by Hidden Horizons, this should also give great opportunities to image stargazers and their telescopes in action! The tickets for that event are also available, here:

Wrap up warm as it can get very cold on a night and bring a torch. Hot drinks will also be available to keep you warm. Feel free to bring along your own camer aquipment, ideally a DSLR with a tripod and a wide angle lens.
